On 11 and 12 May, the Latvian National Opera will host the concerts of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, supported by Rietumu Banka. World-renowned orchestra led by Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons will come to Riga for the first time. The concerts will take place as a part of European tour, which will include performances in Austria, Germany, Czechia, and Latvia.
The event is
organized by Andrejs Žagars Culture Development Foundation, which continues the
mission of the former director of the Latvian National Opera by supporting the
progress of Latvian talents on a global scale and holding world-class cultural
events in Latvia.
There will
be two concerts in Riga, featuring different programmes, and outstanding
Latvian violinist Baiba Skride will take part in one of those.
“The
performance by one of the world’s leading orchestras in Riga is a truly unique occasion.
It is an exceptional opportunity for music lovers to enjoy the concerts with
the participation of worldwide-known Latvian artists. Rietumu Banka has been
providing dedicated support to culture for many years, and we are excited to
back this remarkable event. We believe there will be more such outstanding
cultural activities taking place in Latvia and their audience will be as large
as possible,” said the Chairman of the Board of Rietumu Banka Jeļena Buraja.
Since the
number of seats in the opera hall is limited, there will be large screens
placed near the Latvian National Opera, so that any opera lover can enjoy this excellent
performance.
